SYNOPSIS
Born into a neo-Pentecostal evangelical family, Samuel grew up in the heart of a religion that has surged in influence across Brazil in recent decades. As he begins to explore his sexuality and embrace his queer identity, his world is shaken when his father abruptly bans him from dancing in the church. A turning point in his life is imminent.
DIRECTOR
Matheus Farias (born in 1990, Brazil) and Enock Carvalho (born in 1992, Brazil) live in Recife, a Brazilian northeastern city and stand out as a duo in filmmaking, screenwriting and production since 2015. Matheus, recognized for his adept editing, contributed to acclaimed films such Pictures of Ghosts, by Kleber Mendonça Filho (Cannes Film Festival 2023) and Property, by Daniel Bandeira (Berlinale’s Panorama 2023, Best Editing Award at Festival do Rio). Matheus is also a Berlinale Talents alumni of 2024. Enock, a former film critic between 2010-2015, has collaborated closely with Matheus on four shorts, including the acclaimed Unlievable (Sundance Film Festival 2021, winner of fifty awards).
