SYNOPSIS

It’s the summer of ’75 in Sines, Portugal. Al Berto, the writer, embodies an entire moving generation. He and his friends exude youth, eccentricity and hope for the future – but right after the fall of Portugal’s dictatorship system, the country is not yet ready for this love story.

DIRECTOR

Vicente Alves do Ó was born in Sines, Portugal. With a diverse writing background in theatre, TV and cinema. He became known for his market successful biopics of some of Portugal’s most outcast poets. After his first three features, Al Berto (2017) took him in a new direction inside the LGBT scenery. In 2018, his feature Sunburn premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, in Competition.
