DIRECTOR
Rodrigo Ribeyro is a filmmaker from Serra da Cantareira (São Paulo). Graduated in Cinema from AIC and UFRB, he wrote, directed and edited six short films and several music videos. Cantareira (2021), his first short fiction, was awarded in the La Cinef Competition at the 74th Festival de Cannes. The film also won the National Grand Prix at the 31st Rio de Janeiro ISSF, Best Cinematography at the 54th Brasília Film Festival, Best Direction and Canal Brasil Award at the 21st Goiânia Mostra Curtas and Breakthrough Award at the 33rd Curta Kinoforum – São Paulo ISSF. His short documentary Before Çairé (2020), filmed in the Amazon, was in the National Competition of the 30th Rio de Janeiro ISSF. Green (2023), his second short fiction film, competed in the 34th Curta Kinoforum – São Paulo ISFF and at the 22nd Goiânia Mostra Curtas. The Nature (2024), his most recent short film, premiered in the Première Brasil at the 26th Festival do Rio. His artistic practice is in constant connection with environmental protagonism, the relationship between society and nature and the discussion of labor. Rodrigo also works as a Strategy Analyst for the Cinema do Brasil program, an organisation that works in defense of the international promotion of Brazilian cinema.
